At Bunpro, our mission is to simplify language study by giving learners the tools they need to overcome the challenges they face and then providing a learning environment and process that encourages them to use the language and learn from their mistakes.
We are a multidisciplinary, fully remote team that is passionate about language learning and creating simple yet powerful education tools that make learning less overwhelming. Your Role

We are looking for a junior developer that is interested in growing and gaining experience in a development role. As a junior developer at Bunpro, you will work closely with other developers to familiarize yourself with the existing code base. Within the first week, you will make small changes to an existing part of the site and push your code through the pipeline and into production. During your first year here, you will be expected to spend a good portion of each work day actively learning and expanding on your skill set. This role is perfect for someone who is just starting their developer career, either straight out of college or as a transition from a different career.

About You

It is important that the person we hire for this role can thrive in the position. The following are skills and attributes we think are important for the role.
  • You're easy-going and willing to learn on the job while also getting stuff done
  • Open to feedback and constructive criticism.
  • Experience with front-end web development, HTML, CSS and JavaScript is a plus.
  • Experience with some sort of web development background, preferably some exposure to Ruby and Ruby on Rails or some other MVC framework
  • Japanese is not required in day to day work but basic Japanese is needed to fully understand the product.

  4. Follow Up Interview: Once we’ve evaluated your test project, you may be invited to an additional interview to go over the position and role within Bunpro in greater detail.
  5. Decision: You’ll always hear back from us – we manually review and respond to every candidate’s application. If we think you will be a great fit, you’ll receive an official offer to join our team.
