どうにかSomehow (or other)

どうにか is an adverb which is used when something happens 'somehow or other'. It is often used when the speaker has some reason to believe a desire or goal is unlikely to be achieved, yet somehow in the end the desired outcome still occurs.

どうにか is often translated as 'somehow or other' or 'one way or the other'.

In some contexts どうにか is also translated as 'barely', emphasizing that effort was put into achieving a result. The result may not be exactly as originally desired, but it has still 'somehow' been managed.

どうにか is often paired with the transitive verb する or the intransitive verb なる. どうにかなる means ‘to somehow turn out alright (on its own)’, and implies that things will work out without some specific intervention. どうにかする means ‘to somehow manage to do’, and implies that the method for resolving the situation is uncertain but that by some effort it is possible to solve.
