ダイエットをしている。だけどお菓子(かし)を食(た)べてしまった。

I am on a diet. But I ended up eating sweets.

明日(あした)は雨(あめ)が降(ふ)るらしいです。だけど遊園(ゆうえん)地(ち)に行(い)く予定(よてい)です。

It is supposed to rain tomorrow. But we are planning to go to an amusement park.

独(ひと)り言(ごと)：「旅行(りょこう)するお金(かね)はあるんだけど旅行(りょこう)する時間(じかん)が無(な)いんだよなぁ〜。」

Monologue : 'I have the money to travel, but I don't have the time!'

つまり君(きみ)は僕(ぼく)にお金(かね)を貸(か)して欲(ほ)しいんだね？君(きみ)は親友(しんゆう)だけど、貸(か)す訳(わけ)にはいかないよ。

So you want me to lend you money? You're my best friend, but I can't lend you money.

本当(ほんとう)はこのガムが欲(ほ)しいんだけどそんな高(たか)いお金(かね)を払(はら)う価値(かち)があるわけがありません。

I really want this gum, but there is no way it is worth such a high price.
