主語(しゅご)subject

主語(しゅご)は述語(じゅつご)の動作(どうさ)の主体(しゅたい)だ。

The subject is the agent of the action in the predicate.

「犬(いぬ)が吠(ほ)える」の主語(しゅご)は「犬(いぬ)」だ。

The subject of the sentence 'The dog barks' is 'dog'.

英語(えいご)ではほとんどの文章(ぶんしょう)に主語(しゅご)と述語(じゅつご)が必要(ひつよう)です。
