🧪 Kaijugation (Conjugation Game) Beta
Fernando-BPene 2026
Our new conjugation game is in Beta! Hola! We are very excited to release Kaijugation into Beta. Kaijugation is a new Bunpro conjugation tool/game designed to help you practice grammatical forms. It’s also a really good play on words! If there is one thing we at BUNPRO like, it is a good play on words Plus, who doesn’t want to GRAMpage through some conjugations?! (sorry that’s the last pun, we promise!) Kaijugation has different game modes, a wide array of settings to practice specific grammar patterns, vocab groups, and is even integrated into relevant grammar points so you can go straight into a premade session to practice that specific pattern from a Bunpro grammar point. Also – it is entirely free to use! We built this tool to be useful (and fun!) for anyone so please feel free to share it with others. Some screenshots for those that can't wait 🙈 Main Page: image904×852 128 KB Waiting: image906×852 105 KB Incorrect: image898×849 131 KB Correct: image907×854 127 KB Game Modes: Kaijugation currently has two game modes: Conjugate: the classic conjugation mode – we give you a word and a desired conjugation, and you conjugate it into the target! Conjugate+: We give you a word that’s already conjugated, and ask you to change it into another form. This forces you to quickly recognize and get familiar with rapid conjugation changes. Bonus User-only Features! Users logged into Bunpro have the following features: Challenge the Clock!: Each session includes a timer for every question. Use your studied Bunpro Vocab: By default, the tool uses our full Vocab bank, but this option allows you to practice only with Vocab you’ve already Learn-ed. Other Features Conjugation Detection & Translation As a core goal of the tool, we wanted to differentiate this conjugation tool from others. Rather than giving you just a verb and some misc gibberish like 食べる desire, non-past, affirmative, polite and then expecting you to figure out you are supposed to type たべたいです, we also gave you a translation. In the case of the above: want to eat (polite) This means in conjugation you will see 行く was not able to go (polite) Potential, Past, Negative, Polite Answer: いけませんでした The inclusion of the translations “was not able to go” should make it much easier to practice conjugating to meaning rather than just conjugating to technical terms. Having translation also allowed us to develop Conjugation Detection. Regardless of whether you’re right or wrong, it detects and displays what conjugation you’ve entered, as well as the target conjugation (if you got the question wrong). It also displays a full translation of both. This lets you easily understand what what you typed means and how it differs from the target. image1122×289 30.1 KB Links from relevant Grammar Points You’ll find the following banners on Grammar Point pages that link to a customized session specifically for that grammar. bunpro.jp_grammar_points_る-Verbs1486×200 248 KB Try it out in Beta! Kaijugation is currently in Beta – you can activate it through the Beta section in your Account Settings. Another top-secret Beta... There is also another secret Beta happening right now too – go check the Beta section out to see what it is! Or just read this Feedback thread for it. よろしく! We’ve gone through many iterations of the tool already, but we know the opinions that matter most are yours. While we are still working to improve various aspects of the tool, the core functionality, usefulness, and fun are all there We would love to hear any and all feedback as we strive to improve the app – comment your thoughts down below! We look forward to reading them! The Bunpro Team Thanks and a personal message 🙇♂️ Hola! Fernando Here 🙇♂️ Sorry in advance for the walltext XD First of all, I just want to say how excited I am to see the project finally reaching beta. After so many iterations, seeing how much it has evolved is honestly impressive One of my goals since I started learning development was to work on a real team-based project. I’d like to share a bit of context: in Peru, we have something called pre-professional practices, which are supposed to help students gain real-world experience. Unfortunately, many companies offer very abusive conditions, long working hours, no flexibility even during the academic year, and often no pay at all (ad honorem). It’s basically exploitation disguised as “experience.” And to make it worse, my career here in Peru isn’t really focused on development… the most common outcome is ending up fixing printers and helping on IT Peru?!?! image1200×789 111 KB Around that time, while doing my Bunpro dailies, something told me I should just try sending a message. What truly surprised me was how human the whole process was. After being ignored or answered by who knows how many AIs elsewhere, I received a response from Jake and I honestly couldn’t believe it. It was exciting, but also scary. Spanish is my main language, and suddenly I had to do an interview fully in English The interview day was full of emotions, I talked with Jake and Sean, and in the end of the talk I was part of an exciting project like Kaijugation, helping expand the Arcade. I’m incredibly thankful to everyone on the Bunpro team, thank you for everything. This experience genuinely changed my life. Working in a dev team was one of my biggest goals, and I’ll never forget how amazing it has been (and still is) And last but not least, a huge thank you to the early tool testers. We have implemented some feedback already and are still working on others. I genuinely didn’t expect so many people to want to try the tool this past month, and the reception really boosted my motivation to keep improving it. You probably noticed how many changes happened just in the last week alone XD I’ve been reading every piece of feedback Jake has sent me (Jake’s DMs ). Also, thanks in advance to all the new beta testers who are interested in helping improve the project! 🙇♂️ If you feel that a feature should be added, revived, removed, or reworked, please don’t hesitate to share your feedback. I care deeply about this project and don’t want to leave it half-finished.Ir a la Publicación

Or, learn in another language: N5 (and parts of N4) now available in Indonesian, Spanish and French (human localization – not AI slop!) At the end of 2024 we laid out for you what we had on our horizons for 2025 - let’s see how we did! Looking back on our goals for 2025 from one year ago: Finish and Release 50-75 new Grammar Points from our list. While we did release a batch and have prepped more, we have yet to release them… A Profile overhaul to make it a more useful and fun part of the site. Done! A full release of the mobile app followed by some design overhauls and changes to take advantage of app-only functionality. Done! The future might finally be here and 2025 may actually be the year of the Bunpro Merch store. There is a unique merch item only earnable via the Referral Program Explore adding some sort of kanji aspect to the site, if only the information and ability to see Vocab that share kanji. Ideated and lightly designed, hopefully in 2026! Japanese/English hints for Vocab from N3 on. Done! Explore translating Bunpro into other languages (currently we offer a Spanish translation of N5 that hasn’t been officially released yet). Done! —— At present, we have a huge mix of projects in the pipeline and a solid roadmap laid out for 2026. After some much deserved R&R, the team will be back refreshed and ready to charge headfirst into 2026. Our Goals for 2026 Grammar Expansion: More Grammar Points (for sure this year) and more examples for each. Filling in missing audio. Holistic Learning: A new type of content to lets us give users a more holistic view of grammar and how the pieces fit together. Vocab integration and content clickability: Currently only a small portion of example sentences and Reading Passages are linked to the Grammar/Vocab that is used in them. We want to make all content work that way. Alternate Answers & Hints: Continuing on the expansion of hints and improvements we did this year, improving existing ones and adding even more. Conjugation Game: We have a conjugation practice game we are currently alpha testing More Vocab Cloze support: Making the ~10k vocab words we have sentences for beyond N1 have proper cloze data formatting. Kanji Info: This year will hopefully be the year we add Kanji info. Another year in the books for Bunpro, our best one to date! We say it every year but everything we do is shaped by your feedback, both positive and negative. Bunpro would not be anywhere close to the site it is today without all of you, so thank you for everything you do! All of us here at the team hope that no matter how you are spending the holidays, you are having an enjoyable time. The Bunpro TeamIr a la Publicación

Ho ho ho, to all the good little Reviewers out there! Santa has got a fat sack of goodies for you all this year. Have you been good? Have you been doing all of your Reviews and Japanese study? Yes? GOOD! Here we go! We have finally added something we’ve wanted to do for a while… Quiz Themes The big chungus of this update. Some wrapping paper for your Review experience! theme-xmas-12856×1114 445 KB theme-xmas-22856×1132 426 KB Quiz Themes change a few things about your Reviews screen. The background color into an image, pattern, or solid color Depending on the theme, they also change a few of the text and accent colors inside the Quiz box itself. The Light/Dark mode inside the Quiz box (some of the themes simply don’t work in both Light and Dark mode) They DON'T change: Everything outside the Quiz box – both your Accent and Theme (light/dark mode) For instance, in the below screenshot. I’m using Light mode with the Christmas Accent. But the Quiz Theme forces Dark mode and a different Accent color (you can’t tell here, but it’s gold). The Vocab below will still show Light mode with the Christmas accent. bunpro.jp_reviews (1)1920×2138 160 KB We also have some more muted themes for those that want to eliminate any distractions from their quizzing: theme-graph-paper2842×1118 316 KB theme-gradient1920×760 42.2 KB Check them out here! We’re hoping this update lets you even further customize the feel of your quizzing experience, so that every Review feels as cozy as sitting by the living room fire! Christmas Accent Accents have always been my personal favorite cosmetic type, so I felt it deserved its own section. We have introduced another unlockable Accent, and this one is, you guessed it, Christmas themed: light-11471×769 160 KB dark-11920×955 93.3 KB More Screenshots light-22938×1592 305 KB dark-22938×1606 360 KB Frames, Pins, Titles and more! Bunsgiving 2025
Jakenov 2025
It’s that time again… BUNSGIVING IS BACK, BABY! Whether you celebrate it as Thanksgiving, 勤労感謝の日, or just another day in late November, what better time of the year than now to show someone how much you care by giving them the Gift of Grammar™! Starting today (25th Nov), through next Wednesday (3rd Dec), all gifted subscriptions are 20% off! We have packed a lot into this year’s Bunsgiving, so read the full post to find out what has been done! TL;DR: New Gifting/Bunsgiving page Created a Donation Pool where you can donate or request subscription tokens – we match all donations! Free limited-time-only Bunsgiving cosmetics Bunsgiving? The Gift of Grammar™? Over the years, we have had users reach out about gifting Bunpro subscriptions to friends and family. We turned this into a dedicated event (Bunsgiving) a few years back. With how successful Bunsgiving was the last couple of years, and the time it takes each year to process all the gifting, we have decided to make it a dedicated feature. We have created a new Bunsgiving page, that you can use to buy gift Subscription Tokens and donate to the Donation Pool How can I gift a subscription? This year it’s very simple. Visit the Gifting page, and click on one of the big nuggets: Screenshot 2025-11-24 at 17.46.552462×966 349 KB Follow the purchase flow, and you will be emailed a unique token that you can send to that special someone. The codes of purchased/unredeemed tokens can also be viewed in the Available Gift Codes part of your Subscription Settings. The Bunsgiving sale prices are as follows: Length Price 1 month $5 → $4 3 months (new) $15 → $12 1 year $50 → $40 Lifetime $150 → $120 Lifetime Sale Maybe that special someone in need of a little grammar TLC is you. While the Bunsgiving Sale is active, you can give yourself the Gift of Grammar™️ directly with a discounted lifetime membership ($150 → $120). See your subscription page for details. PS. The Bunsgiving Sale on Lifetime memberships is separate from the upcoming annual sale of lifetime memberships ($120) that will begin in late December. 🏊♂ Community Pool Our Mission Whether it is how we build the platform, our recent localization efforts, or making learning material freely available (like our recent release of 25 full JLPT practice tests), our mission to make Japanese learning more accessible is a core part of why we do what we do. However the premium and expanded features that we offer (SRS, progress tracking, cram etc) all require a subscription, and while Bunpro is one of, if not the cheapest paid tool out there, sometimes not everyone has the means to utilize these tools on an ongoing basis. Behind the Scenes From time to time, individuals reach out to us about their circumstances or socioeconomic struggles, and we do our best to grant free subscription time where we can. At the same time we also have generous users who reach out to gift subscription time to be granted to users on an as needed basis. We decided to formalize and combine these into the Community Pool. The Pool We have initially stocked the Community Pool with 1200 months of subscription time! image1249×1269 105 KB Any user who is struggling or unable to afford a subscription can apply for a six month subscription from the pool. This will open a custom support ticket. We will look at account activity, forum activity and the information provided to help us make an informed decision about the application. Donating Any user who has the means and is feeling generous can also contribute to the pool by donating Tokens. We will match every donation made, month-for-month. That means that for every 3 month donated to the pool by the community, a learner in need will be able to receive a 6 month subscription to keep their journey going. Donations can be made anonymously. There is an activity display showing donations as well as distributions from the pool (distributions are always anonymous). image1227×926 75.9 KB Note: This is just an example to show what it looks like The Community Pool is a bit of a social experiment for Bunpro. We couldn’t find many examples to use as inspiration or to know what to expect. We ultimately went with this approach because it allows us to standardize giving subscription time to those in need while amplifying the impact of any user contributions. Free Stuff Last, we have some FREE Bunsgiving-themed items available in the B-Point Shop! For a limited time only, during the Bunsgiving period (25th Nov – 3rd Dec). Snag them quick! 1758×1330 198 KB 2758×1332 262 KB As always, we are eternally grateful for the continued support and feedback everyone provides! You are what we are thankful for this Bunsgiving Season. With love, The Bunpro TeamIr a la Publicación
N3 Grammar Alternate Answers Update!
Fuganov 2025
Hey Everyone! Today, I would like to make an announcement regarding the N3 grammar hints! Unique Hints Over the past few month, we have gone through a large number of attempted answers for N3 grammar and added a bout 12,000-ish new hints. These new hints have been written in a way that better guides learners to the answer we are looking for. For example, for the grammar point ようとしない, if the answer we are looking for is 諦めようとしない and a student submits あきらめそうもない, it would trigger a hint that says 'This indicates some particular action doesn’t seem likely. We’re looking for a grammar point that uses the volitional form, expresses strong reluctance, and means ‘makes no attempt to do (A)’ or ‘is not willing to do (A)’. As with the N4 hint update, we decided to write new unique hints instead of solely relying on our standard hints so that you can clearly tell which grammar point we are looking for, instead of getting stuck in a loop of potentially similar answers. Clear distinction between Alternate and Wrong answers We followed the same criteria as we did when we created the new N4 hints when writing the N3 hints. Alternate answers : Correct grammar and conjugation, but tense or politeness is off Example: 食べる instead of 食べます. Not the targeted grammar point, but meaning is close Example: くらい instead of 頃. (This is a grey area, but if it makes sense in the context of the sentence, we count it as an alternate answer, but if it does not we count it as a wrong answer). Slight entry errors Example: ちゆう instead of ちゅう. Wrong Answers : Incorrect grammar usage Example: Using にくい when やすい should be used. Ungrammatical answers Example: Incorrect conjugation and ungrammatical use of grammar points. Final Notes With this update, we only added hints for attempted answers that currently lacked hints, and did not make changes to already existing hints. However, we will likely go through existing hints to ‘fine tune’ them so that they follow the same format, and to improve our hint system for grammar points that have less helpful hints even further. We will also go through attempted answers for other N levels and add hints for those in the near future. Look out for another post when some of those are done! Thank you for your continuous support and feedback that helps make Bunpro a great learning tool! We hope that this update improves your learning journey!Ir a la Publicación
Announcement: N3 Grammar JP Translations are Now Available! 11/11
Chihironov 2025
Hi, All お待たせしました for everyone who wants to learn N3 Japanese grammar in Japanese! We’re happy to announce that N3 Japanese grammar explanations are now available! I’m going to post this in Japanese first, then in English. Let’s try reading it in Japanese! (If you’d prefer to read in English, please scroll down!) 例えば、‘In English, this is similar to XXX…’ や ‘This translates as ‘YYY’, ‘ZZZ’, and similar expressions in English.’ のような表現です。 日本語の説明は、このような英語をそのまま訳していません。日本語としてわかりやすくするために、内容や文の順番を少し変えています。そのため、英語と日本語はぴったり同じというわけではありません。どうぞ、ご理解ください いつもフィードバックやコミュニティで協力してくれて、本当にありがとうございます!この新しい機能が、みなさんの学習のお役に立ちますように。もし何か気づいたことがあれば、ぜひ教えてください!ではでは、これからも一緒にがんばりましょう~! Here is the English version What’s the purpose? This feature helps you immerse yourself in Japanese by learning grammar directly in it. It’s recommended, for example, for learners who want to think about grammar in Japanese, who are looking for an extra challenge, or for non-native English speakers who find it difficult to study it through English. What level of Japanese is used? The grammar explanations only use the grammar you’ve already learned at that level. We try to use simple expressions, vocabulary, and kanji (mostly up to N3 level) as much as possible. There might be some advanced grammar terms, but overall the explanations should be easy to read and understand. Also, all kanji have furigana How to switch between English and Japanese? It’s easy! Just tap the button on the top-right corner of the grammar explanation screen. You can always switch between the two languages. Once you switch the language, your setting will apply across all grammar pages! image975×244 41.9 KB Note The original English versions sometimes explain Japanese using English words, for example, ‘In English, this is similar to XXX…’ or ‘This translates as ‘YYY’, ‘ZZZ’, and similar expressions in English.’. So, we adjusted the content and wording instead of translating it directly. We also changed the word order in some places to make it easier to understand. Please note that the English and Japanese versions may not always match exactly Thank you as always for supporting us through your feedback, community participation, and everything you do! We hope this new feature becomes a helpful tool to support and boost your Japanese learning. If you notice anything, we’d appreciate your feedback! ではでは、引き続き一緒に頑張りましょう~!Ir a la Publicación
Selamat Datang, Bunpro Bahasa Indonesia 🌴🇮🇩
Jason-BPnov 2025
🇺🇸 English Version: Show Hello Everyone! After months of hard work and excitement, we’re finally able to share something special with you — Bunpro is now available in Indonesian! landing_page1920×970 59.4 KB indonesian_meme_EN1356×1348 171 KB You can now experience learning Japanese entirely in a language that feels closest to home — Bahasa Indonesia. Simply head to your Account Settings and switch your display language: display_language2028×922 89.6 KB The Story Behind the Indonesian Version I’ve been learning Japanese for several years, and almost all of my resources were in English. When I first started looking for study material, I realized how few Japanese-learning resources existed in Indonesian — especially ones that could guide learners from zero to advanced. I was fortunate enough to be comfortable using English, so I could access many learning resources out there. But I also know that not everyone has the same advantage. Many learners end up being held back simply because there aren’t enough resources in their native language. During my learning journey, my biggest mistake was focusing too much on vocabulary and kanji. Eventually, I realized that without grammar, it’s difficult to understand the meaning of a sentence. The problem is, learning grammar by yourself can feel complicated and directionless. There were many times when I wished there was an SRS-style system for grammar as well… something that could guide and remind us consistently. That’s when I found Bunpro. I was immediately drawn to its simple yet powerful concept: complete explanations, practice, and spaced review (SRS), all in one place. It covers both grammar and vocabulary from the beginner level (N5) up to advanced (N1), which makes the learning path feel much clearer. Back then, everything was still in English, and I often imagined how helpful it would be if an Indonesian version of Bunpro existed. So when I heard that Bunpro would be expanded into Indonesian, I immediately felt it was a chance to help many others. I know what it’s like to study alone without resources in your own language, and that’s what inspired me to contribute — to help create a version that’s accessible, natural, and comfortable for Indonesian learners. Our goal is simple: To make the journey of learning Japanese feel simpler, more familiar, and more enjoyable for everyone in Indonesia. Still Growing All menus, features, and UI text have now been fully localized into Indonesian, along with the entire N5 curriculum. We’ll continue preparing the next levels (N4, N3, and beyond). It takes time and attention, but we want every sentence to feel natural and easy to understand. This Indonesian version will keep improving over time. If you spot any mistakes, awkward translations, or have suggestions, we’d love to hear from you at halo@bunpro.jp. Bunpro has always grown together with its community, and your feedback means a lot to help make this version even better. Thanks and Hopes Thank you to the entire Bunpro team for helping bring this version to life, and to every Indonesian learner who’s been studying day after day — this one’s for you. I hope this Indonesian version helps you learn more comfortably and confidently, bit by bit, one sentence, one small step at a time. Keep going, and may your journey toward fluency be a joyful one! Spread the Word! Help us share the news with your friends who are also learning Japanese! You can access the Indonesian version at bunpro.jp/id. Learn simpler. Learn closer. In your own language. Halo Semuanya!
Halloween Shop Update + Official Release!
kkittyoct 2025
Trick or Treat! While your reviews may bring you tricks, we’re happy to announce we have some treats for you all! The B-Point Shop and cosmetic system is finally out of Beta! We released the B-Point Shop in a previous update, earlier this year. Check it out in the original announcement. Announcement TLDR; The update introduced an in-app currency, and a wide array of cosmetic items that can be bought with it. The currency is called B-Points, and are earned by doing study inside of Bunpro – Reviews, Cram, Reading Passages etc. With this release, we’ve added a new big batch of items – many Halloween themed – for you to purchase. We’ve also added two new cosmetic-types, which we’ll get to next! Progress Bar Backgrounds & End-Caps Say goodbye to the standard accented Progress bar, and instead mix-and-match different bars and caps to your hearts content! Screenshot 2025-10-20 at 15.56.012936×1124 131 KB We’ve designed a bunch of festive (and non-festive) Progress bars that work both by themselves, as well as go hand-in-hand with other Caps. Want to use a brick bar background by itself? Great! Bones bar with a skull cap? Cool! Octopus arm bar with a pumpkin cap? Strange, but who are we to judge? Screenshot 2025-10-20 at 15.57.522438×1138 118 KB We hope that it makes doing Reviews a bit more fun and engaging going forward! Other New Shop Additions While the progress bars and caps are fun, we also have some other stuff to showcase! We have added more Pins, Frames, Accents and Profile Themes to the Shop. Time for a little showcase. Just in time for the holidays is our new Halloween Accent. This will add a spooky feel to your day-to-day activities inside Bunpro! Screenshot 2025-10-20 at 16.17.291920×1172 154 KB We’ve also added a new set of Matsuri-themed items too, and a Terracotta Accent: Screenshot 2025-10-20 at 16.19.201920×1172 166 KB Have a rummage through the New Releases part of the Shop to see everything we’ve added. Screenshot 2025-10-20 at 16.12.421920×1227 125 KB Special Mention… We have added the French Flag as a pin! This may have been the most requested item, so here you all are! We hope you enjoy this little update, and are looking forward to seeing your spooky Profiles for the rest of October (and well into the future too!). Share your Profiles below (the Share button can be found in the bottom right of your Profile Card)! We’d love to see your creations. Happy holidays! The Bunpro TeamIr a la Publicación
