拠所(よんどころ)ない事情(じじょう)で会議(かいぎ)を欠席(けっせき)しました。

I was absent from the meeting due to unavoidable circumstances.

メール：「拠所(よんどころ)ない事情(じじょう)で忘年会(ぼうねんかい)を欠席(けっせき)します…。」

Email: 'I will be absent from the year-end party due to unavoidable circumstances...'

社長(しゃちょう)：「拠所(よんどころ)ない事情(じじょう)でしょ？仕事(しごと)を休(やす)むのもしょうがないよ。」

President: 'It's an unavoidable, isn't it? It can't be helped that you have to take time off work.'

拠所(よんどころ)ない事情(じじょう)で急(きゅう)に宴会(えんかい)を出席(しゅっせき)することを申(もう)し訳(わけ)なく思(おも)っています。

I feel sorry that due to unavoidable circumstances I'm suddenly appearing the banquet.
