In this Topic, we're going to learn how to talk about nouns and な-Adjectives in the past tense. As usual, this is different for polite and standard language. With this we will be able to use all applicable word types in the past tense (い-Adjectives, verbs, な-Adjectives, and nouns)!

Adalah, Merupakan (Masa lampau)
Untuk mengatakan bahwa sesuatu 'dulu begitu' dalam bahasa Jepang, perlu ditambahkan だった (kasual) atau でした (formal) di akhir kata benda atau kata sifat-な. Bentuk-bentuk ini berasal dari gabungan dua kata kerja bantu, yaitu だ (atau です dalam bentuk sopan) ditambah た, yang menunjukkan lampau.
Untuk だった, kita cukup menambahkan った pada bentuk dasar だ. Sedangkan untuk です, す akan berubah menjadi し sebelum menambahkan た.
Perhatian
Perlu diingat bahwa bentuk lampau dari kata sifat-い tidak bisa digabungkan dengan だった atau でした, karena kata sifat jenis ini punya aturan konjugasinya sendiri untuk menunjukkan bentuk lampau.
