Acerca de じゃなかった

じゃなかった es la versión informal de ではなかった que, a su vez, tiene un tono semiformal. Ambas se usan para conjugar los sustantivos y Adjetivos な al pasado negativo, agregándolas al sustantivo o a la forma básica del Adjetivo な.

Es muy común usar la contracción じゃ en vez de では.

Tanto じゃ como では se pueden usar con ありませんでした, el pasado negativo de ある, para dar un tono de formalidad a esta construcción.

Hi! I’m confused on when to use this " じゃありませんでした" and when to use ”じゃない". In the sentence below why is " じゃありませんでした" the correct usage? Thank you in advance
