Acerca de Particle + の

En japonés, muchas partículas se combinan con la partícula indicadora de caso の. La función principal es crear un vínculo entre el sustantivo (A) y el sustantivo (B). En cada caso, el sustantivo (B) hereda todas las cualidades descritas por el sustantivo (A) y la partícula que le sigue.

La partícula que va antes de の siempre añade algún tipo de información directa sobre el sustantivo (A). Las más comunes son las siguientes:

Sustantivo (A) から の Sustantivo (B) - El (B) que viene 'desde / de' (A).

Sustantivo (A) と の Sustantivo (B) - El (B) que va 'con' (A).

Sustantivo (A) へ の Sustantivo (B) - El (B) que va 'hacia / a' (A).

Sustantivo (A) で の Sustantivo (B) - El (B) que se realiza 'en / con' (A).

Sustantivo (A) まで の Sustantivo (B) - El (B) que dura 'hasta' (A).

¡Ojo!

Como el sustantivo (A) describe al sustantivo (B), el sustantivo (B) se considera el sujeto del enunciado. Por eso las partículas que normalmente marcan sujetos, temas u objetos de acciones no pueden combinarse directamente con の. Estas incluyen に, も, は, が y .

Was wondering, is it weird to use Verb-modified Nouns?
It’s just that if feels overloaded so im asking. TY

Your first two examples look incorrect to me since I would expect each side of the の to be distinct clauses whereas instead you’re splitting a single verb phrase. For example comparing the first one:

        [彼女と見た]映画
Movies [I’ve seen with my GF]

        [彼女と]の[見た映画]
[With my girlfriend]'s [movies I’ve seen]
Movies I’ve watched with my girlfriend [in them] (“with my girlfriend” modifies the movie itself instead of how you watched them)

The third sentence seems to work either way with the slight nuance of whether このレストランで acts as an adjective for 食 or an adverb for 食べた. The fourth sentence only works as you’ve written though in my opinion:

        [日本から]の[遊んだゲーム]
        [From Japan]'s [games I’ve played]
        Games from Japan I’ve played

Without の, 日本から no longer acts as an adjective modifying ゲーム and so I’d be more inclined to read it as “since [the time I was in] Japan” instead. Although I’d probably expect this idea to be more simply written instead as:

        ...

      • darzington

        darzington

        For this test sentence:

        これまでの話はなかなかおもしろい

Is there a different way of phrasing “これまでの話” ?
How would the meaning change without ‘の’ (or why would that be incorrect)?
        Thanks!
