一般
「ば〜ほど」の情報
「ば〜ほど」は、接続助詞の「ば」と名詞の「ほど」の組み合わせです。「(A) になれば、もっと (B) になる」のような意味で、(A) の程度が変わると、それと一緒に (B) の程度も変わるときに使われます。
「ば〜ほど」を使うときは、まず動詞やイ形容詞に「ば」を付けて、仮定の形を作ります。名詞やナ形容詞の場合は「なら」を使います。次に、同じ語の連体形と「ほど」を続けます。そして、(A) の影響で変化することを (B) に入れます。
また、名詞やナ形容詞の場合は、「な」や「なら」を「である」にすることもできます。「である」は「だ」のかたい言い方です。
注意点
この文法をスル動詞と一緒に使う場合、「する」に付く名詞は、「ば」の部分で一度だけ使えば大丈夫です。「ほど」のところで、もう一度繰り返す必要はありません。
豆知識
仮定の「ば」の部分を省略して、「ほど」だけを使う場合もありますが、意味はほとんど変わりません。

You can repeat it in the way that you did, but you don’t have to. If it’s not repeated it should be 静かであればあるほど without the で. The same applies to nouns too.

If [you] study, [your] Japanese gets good to the extent that [you] study.God, this makes so much more sense now! At first I tried to translate it as
If you study, your Japanese gets so good that you study. (What?)
Meaning that first your Japanese gets good and, as a consequence of that, you study.
I think at first I got the wrong idea that the part preceding ほど is always the result/consequence of something. As in:
死ぬほど練習した。
I practiced myself to death.
(I 練習する and, as a consequence of that, I 死ぬ)涙が出るほど嬉しい。
I am so happy that I could cry.
(I am 嬉しい and, as a consequence of that, I 涙が出る)But here it’s the other way around: first you study to some extent and, as a consequence of that, your Japanese gets better.
